Pedi férias. Recebi férias.

I asked for vacation. I received vacation.

Initial considerations: read the text with a dose of lightness and a sense of humor. We know that traveling is a privilege and that not everyone can or wants to spend their vacation in the way described below. Thank you, management.

If there's one thing Orkut has taught me, it's that we're never alone. And this applies not only to childhood terrors, like the infamous dream of being naked at school (this community had hundreds of thousands of members), but also to very adult frustrations, like the fruitless search for a hotel that entertains children without penalizing the parents.

It was like this: I shared on my stories my eternal indignation with this phenomenon. Why does every hotel that promises to entertain children come with terrible food, questionable sheets and that decor that is… let’s say, ordinarily questionable? And why is it so difficult to find a place where children and adults can be happy at the same time?

Boom. Avalanche of messages: "YES!" "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WHERE ARE YOU?"

That's how I realized that this wasn't an individual complaint, but a collective outcry, worthy of an Orkut community or even a public civil action. However, since my time as a lawyer is fortunately behind me, I'll stick with the Orkut community's alternative. So, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: "I Asked for Vacation, Not for Quarrel". A movement, a revolt, a silent rebellion against the proliferation of establishments that take money from parents by seducing their children with lots of colors, noise and visual stimuli, to the point that they don't need to make an effort to offer anything good to adults. After all, the mini-clients have already made the decision – and what parent doesn't want to do what their child wants?

And so an entire hotel chain is created that turns children's holidays into a probationary period for parents.

But since this text began to celebrate exceptions, let's talk about Casa Siará , in Preá, Ceará. A place that is not a "hotel for children" in the classic sense of the expression. In fact, it has all the design of an excellent hotel for adults and couples who also want peace and quiet in a special place, which combines the sophistication of Brazilian design with the exuberant nature of Ceará. An invitation to days without rushing, without ostentation, without worries (so you can include it on your list of trips with and without children).

In other words, don't expect a walled-off space, full of brightly colored pools and slides, and even less so with the perimeter of a small European country. Of course, children love that, but children don't just love that – they just don't know it. I understand that it's necessary to show them all the possibilities (and, of course, light a candle so they like something along the way). Casa Siará, through a combination of factors such as excellent structure, privileged surroundings, good taste, well-trained staff, attention to detail and respect for parental health, has achieved what few can: be a small hotel that keeps children entertained and happy without penalizing adults.

We went there in January 2025, a strategic time because that's when children have energy to spare and adults are, what? Overwhelmed by the end of the year; with its thousand festive duties and obligations (the children are in full swing and the holidays are not even close to ending. You have to fight).

Casa Siará was designed by renowned architect Miguel Pinto Guimarães, who fuses local tradition, Brazilian charm and the best of contemporary architecture. We chose one of the villas , which I believe is the perfect choice for families (or friends looking for comfort and privacy), providing the feeling of home, but with hotel service. Each villa has its own independent structure, with a dining room and living room integrated into the gourmet area, which has a barbecue and pizza oven, as well as a private pool.

And why is traveling to Preá and staying at Casa Siará a break from the status quo ? First, because it is small (8 hotel rooms and 7 villas ), enough to deliver personalized service. The staff remembers the children's names, knows who likes mango juice and who prefers guava, and is attentive to everyone's needs without turning the experience into a circus.

No water park? No, there isn’t. But there is a huge and delightful pool, a well-equipped playroom, a TV room where children can watch movies or play video games in the evening, and a paradisiacal beach right there. And, most importantly, there are real activities – those that present landscapes and possibilities, that create memories instead of just taking up time. Let me explain why and how:

The village of Preá is located in Ceará, 20 km south of the village of Jericoacoara. The region is surrounded by white sand dunes, natural lagoons and mangroves that form the biomes of the Ceará coast – a place where nature remains untouched. Therefore, there are several possible tours:

• ATV rides through the sand dunes. Highlight: the kids will love sliding down the dune on sandboarding , especially with you.

Kite lessons (and even the little ones who can't go to sea yet are delighted with the theoretical part, everyone equipped like professional mini-kitesurfers).

Important information: Preá is known worldwide as a kitesurfing mecca! At Casa Siará, you will find one of the best kitesurfing equipment storage facilities in the region and you can change your equipment every day depending on the wind.

• ATV rides to the city center for dinner, ice cream and a night stroll. We returned from the city center to Casa Siará along the beach at night and "pretended" to the children that it was the "real life Mario Kart". Why? They got really excited and, suddenly, there was a sequence of imaginary "hooves" and "golden turbos" being shouted along with the sound of the sea.

• The famous Blue Lagoon tour, which involves a ferry and a water park that I define as... vintage ... hahaha.

It reads: slightly decadent. But let’s face it, kids don’t care about that, as long as there are more pools than they can count and, of course, a giant slide. My suggestion: embrace the décadence avec élégance and remember that when you get back to the hotel, there’s some wonderful cuisine waiting for you – and the sheets that every devoted parent deserves at the end of the day.

We spent six days at Casa Siará and, luckily for us, it rained on the last day (which made saying goodbye a little less painful). We left our villa and my stepdaughter, as observant as only she can be, said:

“Hey, who put these umbrellas here? They weren’t here.”

They really weren't. Someone from the staff came to the door of our house and, in the best 'understated elegance' style, left umbrellas for us. We're not sugar daddy (although we like it a lot) and we could have walked the 15 steps that separate the villa from the hotel, but... do you understand the level of care?

And in the end, the kids left there begging for another day of skibunda , while we, the adults, left rested. Yes, you read that right. Rested. Without needing a vacation from the vacation.

This, readers, is revolution. And it's about time.
